The thoughts of a former ESL demo reviewing admin on the whole flusha case

So on to the case of flusha and the infamous aim hacking in pro scene, i thought i'd share my opinion on the matter. I am playing devil's advocate here but this isn't strictly about taking the opposing side in the sake of arguing, i am genuinely convinced of what i'm defending.
  • 1 - A few things I should mention about myself first:
I played nearly every other recent competitive FPS that's been around (BF2/3/4, COD2/4, quake, shootmania... you name it). CSS was the game on which i settled competitively for years. Back on source i had sort of a habit of trying to analyze players' gameplay and it sort of lead to catching people cheating. I spent some time as an anti cheat admin for ESL back on source, i reviewed a lot of demos (from the blatant wallhack to the very slight silent aim that requires hours of reviewing on slowmotion and strictly on in-eyes demos), and i was very aware and informed of hacking forums and softwares around. I also work in IT, that allows me to have some background knowledge on development and security in general. I have proof of any of this but i'd like to not just throw it away around here because i don't want this to be about me.
Some day i ended up being banned from the very same league i was an admin for cheating despite being innocent. I finally managed to get the ban lifted afterwards fighting hard to prove my innocence (easier than someone else because i knew what i should prove and in the meantime harder than someone else because it made my case "too easy" to defend). Let me tell you that my plays were more sketchy than flusha's. I made a few source videos back in the day and while replaying my demos with wireframe i can't count the amount of time when i somehow moved my crosshair on someone through a wall or a smoke...
  • 2 - About the "evidence", and my opinion of it onto this particular topic:
First of all, nearly all the "evidence" that's being shown around consists of 16 tick gotvs, youtube videos of these gotvs... and GIFS of these youtube videos. So before even questioning IF someone is cheating BASED on that evidence, how about you first ask yourself WHETHER OR NOT that evidence can even be used to determine if a player is cheating in the first place. The first thing I did back when i was reviewing demos was making sure i had everything i needed to make an appropriate decision way before i started thinking about that decision (ESL had a very strict policy of mandatory in-eyes recordings - much more reliable that stvs/hltvs/gotvs or youtube videos).
I'm no lawyer but i'm pretty sure one of the first thing they tend to do is proving or contesting the validity of the evidence that's being presented... Unless we're not in a courtroom anymore but in an old village populated by angry mobs with forks and torchs where procedure, evidence, bias and opinion do not have any boundaries.
Now back to what we can see; so many videos of him aren't even aimlock, it's just him having his crosshair NEAR an enemy or somehow randomly on an enemy (not even locking his head or chest). People are so all over the place with the vac bans that they forgot that the kind of cheat that's being discussed as used by pros (and the one that got kqly/sf banned) is one that very slightly corrects aim onto enemies on an inconsistent basis in order to avoid looking sketchy EVEN ON LAN WITH SPECTATORS BEHIND YOU. We're not talking about something that blatantly 90s/180s to lock on a head through a wall or follow a player through a smoke... As of the "LOCKING" (another word thrown around as much as "evidence") I don't see any clear indication of an automated smooth movement placing a crosshair in an aligned manner onto the body of an enemy.
  • 3 - Thoughts about how people are reacting to this entire situation, and the attitude of some pros towards it:
When you ask yourself questions while already knowing what answer you'll have, and what answer you'll like, is a time when your opinion shouldn't even have any weight, don't you think?
A very legitimate question people should ask themselves (and despite defending flusha i asked myself that very question) is "Is this action suspicious, while i'm keeping in mind that this action could be explained by a/b/c/d/e?". But obviously, the question that's being asked instead goes more along the lines of "Is that guy cheating when he aims at that guy through the wall?". Well guess what, you already know what answer you're gonna have to that question right after asking it...
And who cares about what the pros think? they certainly have the best knowledge about the game but that doesn't make them judges or cheat experts... in fact after reading some answers or comments in interviews, it's really obvious that most of them have no fucking clue how most cheats work, or their bias as someone directly involved in the competitive scene makes their opinion very far of anything objective.
If you were to go back through all pro demos of all cs titles through the years, i can guarantee you'd find shit that looks a billion time more suspicious than this does... Sometimes probably from the same players that are so outspoken when discussing their opponents. Talk about perspective...
And shame on some of the 'PROS' for being so UNPROFESSIONAL. You think someone cheats? That's your right, how about you discuss it privately and try to argument your own opinion based on your experience and knowledge instead of flaming like a sore loser on matchmaking, only in a more humiliating way in front of thousands of people on social media. Even if someone is proven to be cheating directly by valve, that doesn't make you obligated in any way to go all rambo mode on him like that.
I definitely lost respect for some players through this clusterfuck, and it really showed how uninformed and trend following this community can be. But i also admire how some players used this opportunity to get themselves informed and kept their opnion to themselves.
I could go on and on and discuss very specific actions in particular, but i don't even think it's necessary at this point since many people will just choose to memorize or ignore whatever the hell they want to.
Sorry if this looks like a gigantic rant, and sorry for any nonsense or incoherences. I wrote this a bit quickly and english isn't my first language. Any well thought and articulated opinion is welcome, i've had my fair share or the rest.
TLDR: There is no conclusive evidence. Whether or not you think flusha is cheating is your own opinion (that's being influenced by what other people think, by your personal beliefs and by your bare abilities to determine if someone is cheating or not), but please don't act like any of this is definitely conclusive with no possible margin of error or reasonable doubt. That's just being dangerously ignorant, fallacious and biased...
Also, ban Ex6tenz fucking cheater 100% aimlock omg volvo ban this sick filth... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LHS-lbwoxY
jk
24/11 EDIT: Didn't expect that many answers. If it wasn't obvious enough, that video from Ex6tenz was a joke, I do not believe he's hacking...
And another thing I should mention is that I wasn't a "professional" demo viewer (and I never claimed to be one). I wasn't paid by ESL or under any contract, and I want to be very clear over this point. I strictly mentioned the part about me being on a former anti cheat staff to avoid a lot of "Who are you to claim that" "You silver scrub you don't have a clue about the game" etc. And the part i included with my former game experience was more about personal history as to how i got into demo viewing and what path got me here. I'm not claiming to be the ultimate expert on anything CS or cheat related... These are only my thoughts, and i thought it was important to have some context and background to go along with them and understand my point of view.
There is also a side discussion going on in the comments on the legitimacy of ESL admins and bans, and while this is a topic on which I could also speak about on a lengthy post (I actually did a more 'harsh' and less structured one on this matter a while back that you can find if you go through my previous comments - my opinion on this topic is much more subjective than it is here obviously).
25/11 EDIT 2 : Once again people are so stubborn on this case that they are looking for the wrong cheat. They think someone of the caliber of flusha playing on LAN and with each of his moves being spectated by thousands of people would use a blatant, unreliable, easily spotted hack that locks players through walls and shoots them through those walls...
I'm not even saying flusha is 100% not cheating, what i've tried to point out from the beginning is that THESE ACTIONS have nothing to do with the kind of hack he WOULD be using if he actually cheated. The fact that people keep using them as proof just shows they don't have any knowledge of how a cheat works, how a player would use it and how it can be setup. I've yet to have anyone tell me the name of the type of cheat flusha would be using according to them in these actions. They don't because they have no clue what's going on and what they are even looking at and looking for. Some of the players using these hacks are most-likely the ones you're not talking about.
This article was just published by 99dmg:
http://csgo.99damage.de/de/interviews/23269-former-cheat-coder-says-it-all
A former cheat coder clearly supports the arguments i've developed earlier on my post and comments, suggesting that cheats allegedly used by pros are nearly (or even fully) undetectable to the eye on demos, and PROPER evidence can only be collected by analysing specific game files. The fact that you see actions you think are dodgy don't constitute evidence, they only constitute an opinion. You're still free to have that opinion, but don't think it means anything other than being your opinion.

Just bought Titanfall 2 after playing Apex Legends

(currently downloading)

Coming from competitive cod2/4 promod and Quake, i naturally fell in love with the gameplay in Apex. From the gun play to the movement, it felt amazing. But it just isn't enough. Apex is my first BR game, and i quickly realized the time i was spending in fights was very limited. I want the same gameplay, but in a TDM scenario without massive gaps in between action. So here i am.

My questions are,
Can i expect the same (if not better) fluidity and gun play in Titanfall 2?
Does skill in movement and aiming between the two games interchangeable?
Is the mouse sensitivity the same, considering i edit the cfg file?
How similar are the weapons?

Also, what's up with the mechs? I loved the game "HAWKEN" a few years ago, but that's the only experience i have with these things in gaming. Can i play without them, or should i embrace them?
