New Android version of Firefox is so buggy and unlikable to me that I am probably going to have to uninstall it and go back to version 68. Here are 9 verifiable, reproducible bugs, awful features, etc. that simply don't work well, or practically, or both.
- 1- The old desktop version of Reddit, and many other sites, no longer work properly. Example: Go to the old.reddit version of the Firefox subreddit, and try copying the text from any user's comment. Example: This comment here:
Pinch zoom with your fingers. Try highlighting the first word in the comment, then highlighting the rest of the sentence. Sometimes it works normally. Often times it doesn't. The highlighted text jumps all over the place and it's basically unable to highlight a precise word or sentence. For this glitch to work, you must be visiting the old.reddit version of reddit, as shown above. Try while signed out of your reddit account.
- 2- Unable to expand or interact normally with webpages. This problem is harder to reproduce, but I can do it over and over if I try enough. When I am browsing all day, even if it only happens 5% of the time, it's a massive hindrance and makes the browser unusable for serious work. Here is an example I can reproduce multiple times. The glitch only seems to work if I am using the "open link in new tab feature", NOT when I paste the URL directly into the URL bar and go there directly. Steps to reproduce this error:
B- Load the webpage. Once it has loaded, longpress the hyperlinked Yahoo news article located in the body of the post.
C- Select "Open link in new tab"
D- Wait 10 seconds.
E- Go to your tabs list and select the Yahoo news article.
F- Sometimes (many times for me), the webpage doesn't work properly. Specifically, I can't click "story continues" at the bottom, and I can't click and cycle through the 4 pictures at the top of the article. It's a completely broken webpage. Refreshing the page fixes the problem, but it's still a huge pain and it happens frequently throughout the day.
- 3- Sometimes when I go to paste something by longpressing, it just doesn't work, or it takes longer than usual. For example 1: Go to the Wikipedia page for Firefox:
Next, highlight and select the very first sentence of the first paragraph. Then, with the first sentence copied into your clipboard, go up to the Wikipedia search bar and try pasting it. It takes a full two seconds for the "paste" option to appear. Was this time lengthened? I don't remember it being that long before. And it seems to me, that sometimes I just can't get the paste menu to appear at all, although, I haven't been able to reproduce that error in the few minutes I've tried here.
Other times, pasting is glitchy. For example 2:
Open up a new blank tab in Firefox Try longpressing any URL into the URL bar. It won't work properly. The keyboard won't show up and the paste menu will be all the way at the very bottom of the screen. This type of thing happens all the time. Here's a screenshot
- 4- The disappearing URL bar should be OPTIONAL. I hate it and am now constantly scrolling up to copy the URL or paste a new one. Why is there no way to disable this? Plus it is obnoxious having it go back and forth every time I scroll up or down.
- 5- The new tabs list. I can't reorganize them. It's just a static list that I have to scroll through. I frequently have 40+ tabs open at once. I appreciate now that I am able to see the webpage title and information, but the new structure is a total and complete step backwards. It's no different than using Firefox Focus. I like to be able to arrange all my tabs by order of what I want to watch, or read next, etc. Another problem with the new tabs list feature, is that even if you could rearrange them, it would take a lot longer than with the tiles.
- 6- Why is the "select all" button now first instead of "paste" when writing in a field that already has certain text written in it? Why were those switched? That is so counter-intuitive and confusing. Firefox should never assume you want to "select all".
Part of the confusion is that the little "paste" button changes its order based on whether there is already text inside the comment box or not. What this results in, is sometimes you go to paste something and the paste button is where it normally is, closest to your finger, and other times, in its place, is the "select all" button. It changes all the time and leads to mistaken and accidental "select alls". KEEP IT THE SAME. The option to select all should never be the default position in those situations. It should assume you want to paste.
And why "select all" anyway? I almost never use "select all". Normally when I copy, it's a portion of text, not all of it.

Points 7-10 are gripes. I could live with them, even though I do not like them at all:
7- Add back the "new tab" option to the menu. I understand why it was removed, because it's now available when you click on your tabs. However, before, you could open a new tab without having to leave the page you were on. You just selected the dropdown menu and hit "new tab". Now, you must leave, go to your full list of open tabs, and go all the way to the bottom to open a new tab. It's slower and takes more time. It may sound dumb to some, but when you're going through hundreds of tabs a day like I am, it makes for a huge and completely different experience. Leave the option available in the dropdown menu for "new tab".I have been informed that you can open a new tab without leaving the page you are on by longpressing the tab button. That is acceptable. Duly noted.
- 8- No one cares about collections. Get rid of it or make it optional. Why am I always seeing stuff about "collections"? I am not interested. Remove it, or give me the option to remove it.
- 9- What is up with bookmark suggestions? I go to type a URL and before, I would get a relevant list of suggestions with my most used ones popping up first. Now I get a completely unorganized list of all random bookmarks containing the phrase I typed. Am I imagining things?
